DESTRUCTION Drummer Arrested In Italy
May 24, 2004DESTRUCTION drummer Marc Reign was arrested in Italy Sunday (May 24) following the band's performance in Brescia. The following statement on the matter was posted on the group's official web site:
"After the fantastic gig in Brescia, Italy, the band had massive problems to leave the country by plane from the Milano airport. What happened was that the Italian customs arrested drummer Marc Reign because of the band's stage accessories. Apparently it was the chrome bullet belts, one of the DESTRUCTION trademarks, that obviously set the officials in a state of bomb panic. All the arguments that the stage outfit of the band isn't live or armed didn't have an effect on the over-motivated civil servants. After endless discussions, they did finally confiscate the stage belts and also drummer Marc's deprivation of liberty did come to an happy end. This was just the second time in twenty years (after Peru) that the band had problems at airport customs with their stage outfits. The pesky thing was not just the arrest — imagine the airplane on hold because of that... Spinal Tap.."
In other news, DESTRUCTION have been confirmed for the Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium on Sunday, June 27. Other groups set to appear at the three-day event include ALICE COOPER, SLIPKNOT, MOTÖRHEAD, CRADLE OF FILTH, QUEENSRŸCHE, SOULFLY, JUDAS PRIEST, LIFE OF AGONY, DIMMU BORGIR, SAXON and FEAR FACTORY.
